“Dolphin Terrace is dedicated to teaching outstanding character, leading the way to personal best, helping each other along the way to be independent, nurturing, successful citizens in our community. As a learning community, we commit to ensure this outcome.”
Our Dolphin Terrace community works collaboratively in promoting teaching and learning. This integrated curriculum includes Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, Technology, Fine Arts and Social Emotional Learning. Our student’s learning progress is evaluated in a variety of ways, including traditional grading, participation, project-based, portfolio’s, data binders, observations, collaborative measures, debate, and conferences to name a few.
Uniforms:
Dolphin Terrace students are expected to be in complete uniform daily. The uniform is described below:
- 5 pocket denim jeans, khaki or black uniform pants
- Dolphin Terrace uniform Polo-Shirt Monday-Thursdays and “Spirit T-Shirt” on Fridays.
- Students are also required to wear tennis shoes daily.
- Button or Zip front jackets or sweaters in royal blue, black, grey, or white color or “Dolphin” hoodies may be worn.
Discipline:
Administration, handles discipline referrals according to House Bill 37 and the “Boys Town” model of behavior. Office visits are handled according to the student code of conduct, which is published in the District’s “Student and Parent Handbook”, accessible on the district’s website.
Absences:
The student’s Parent/Guardian must call the school to report all absences. Please note that a students’ attendance impacts their learning. Therefore, we expect every student to be in attendance unless they are sick. The 90% attendance law is enforced. Excessive absences may result in court warning letters whether the absence is excused or not.
Tardies:
It is very important for students to be on time for school. Instruction begins at 7:30 am . Students who are tardy more than 5 times will make up their lost time during lunch recess or after school. Tardies may result in loss of “Faithful Attendance” and/or “Perfect Attendance” awards.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Dolphin Terrace strongly encourages our families to volunteer at our school. You may sign up on the YISD website.
